Monument’s Stewart Verdery spoke with Bloomberg Government about how President Donald Trump’s aggressive policy proposals and his easing of revolving-door rules, strategists with recent experience in his administration are highly sought by K Street and the influence industry, lobbyists, and government relations.
Stewart Verdery, founder of the bipartisan Monument Advocacy, said his firm hadn’t yet hired anyone who officially served in Trump 2.0 but noted that it had brought on former House GOP leadership aide Mark Bednar after he managed the confirmation process for current Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy and others.
Competition among lobbying firms and in-house operations is intense for those with recent ties to the administration, Verdery said.
“The demand is pretty high, and we’ve seen some fairly impressive growth by firms that market themselves as tight with the administration,” he said. “We’re definitely talking to some people who are inside” the administration, Verdery said. “If you’ve got to pay over-market for Republicans, there are three more years.”
