Monument Advocacy seeks college-, post-graduate- or graduate-level candidates for a PUBLIC POLICY INTERNSHIP based in downtown Washington, DC. Monument is a nationally recognized consulting firm, focused on Government relations, strategic communications, and public affairs. We maintain groundbreaking practices in numerous fields, including technology and innovation; sustainability; tax, trade, and economic policy; travel and immigration; defense and cybersecurity; healthcare; food, agriculture, energy, and more. Interns will have significant opportunities to witness the public policy and legislative process first-hand and to gain real government relations, public affairs, and strategic communications experience.
Duties will include but are not limited to:
– Conducting legislative, political, and policy research;
– Tracking bills, regulatory developments, and current events related to client interests;
– Covering congressional hearings, briefings, and off-the-Hill policy events;
– Drafting and editing policy materials, client and coalition memos, and summaries of hearings, bills, and regulations;
– Supporting coalition and client advocacy efforts, including meeting notes, follow-up, and project coordination; and,
– Assisting in business development proposals and research.
The goal of the internship program is to expose highly motivated pre- and early-career professionals to the everyday operations of a government relations firm. Interns will be given meaningful assignments in order to develop a range of skills including research and writing; personal development through inter-office communication and team-building skills; critical thinking and time management based on real-life deadlines; and a realistic understanding of the legislative and regulatory process.
A successful Intern will possess strong interpersonal skills, the ability to work well under pressure, and the desire to learn more about Congress and the public policy process.

The compensation for this position is an hourly rate per DC’s minimum wage compliance of $17.95/hour and cannot exceed more than 86.67 hours per semi-monthly pay period.
