Mark Bednar spoke with Bloomberg about how, since the US and Israel launched deadly strikes on Iran just over a week ago, the conflict has escalated, wreaking destruction and havoc all over the Middle East and blocking most oil shipments from the region. The longer the waterway is shut down, the higher oil prices will go, and if the conflict drags on through the end of March, it’s estimated gas prices could be “one of the top 10 largest on record.”
Republican strategist Mark Bednar says there’s no way President Donald Trump and his Republican Party would let that happen, given their repeated pledges to lower the cost of gasoline. “The administration sees it as an absolute political necessity to keep gas prices in a good spot for the American public,” Bednar says. “It is a zero fail mission. I just see it as an impossibility for them to be in a situation where gas prices get out of control, because of the political importance of it.”
