With a possible government shutdown on the horizon, federal contractors face renewed uncertainty. Monument’s Stewart Verdery spoke with Bloomberg Government about what it means for companies that rely on government contracts.
Stewart Verdery, founder of Monument Advocacy, who was the first assistant secretary for policy and planning at DHS, agreed, “Everyone seemed to think it was a glidepath to no shutdown, then the terrible situation in Minnesota changed the dynamic 180 degrees.”
“For the folks who deal with government contracting, it’s been a very tough year,” Verdery said, with federal cuts by the Department of Government Efficiency and then the longest shutdown. “It seemed like we were finally getting to a more normal state of affairs.”
Verdery said he expects senators will find a way to use some “legislative jujitsu” to split off DHS from the other funding bills.
